Still Positive Donation Recipients:

Lifelong

We choose Lifelong for our launch month recipient because our book starts when Julie is diagnosed HIV+ in 1990. One of the first things she did was find help and health services at the Northwest AIDS Foundation. (Now Lifelong) It seems full circle to give back to the people who were there at the very beginning, not only for Julie but for many people newly diagnosed with HIV.

Lifelong delivers food, housing, and health services to people living with chronic illnesses, including HIV and AIDS. With the vision of “Health for All”, for nearly 40 years, Lifelong has fought for marginalized communities with relentless compassion—because no one should have to battle stigma, judgment, or the devastating effects of illness alone. Lifelong’s wraparound care model supports the whole person by breaking down barriers and improving access to nutritious food, stable housing, and vital health resources for people living with diabetes, HIV, kidney disease, and other life-challenging illnesses. Their community support network fills the gaps in broken systems and ensures that everyone has an equitable opportunity to thrive.

Pierce County AIDS Foundation

We chose PCAF as our other launch month recipient for the tremendous work they are doing in diverse communities impacted by HIV south of Seattle in Pierce County.

PCAF, through education and service, prevents HIV acquisition, assists persons impacted by HIV and associated illnesses, and combats HIV-related stigma and discrimination. PCAF is dedicated to assisting persons living with HIV to meet their needs for food, housing, healthcare and personal support. PCAF provides personalized case management services to people living with HIV and extensive outreach/education/prevention programming to help stop the spread of HIV and combat HIV related stigma.

Construction for Change

Julie and Jenny both volunteered with Construction for Change for many years. CfC was the non-profit that managed building the thirty healthcare facilities funded by the 30/30 Project. There is a whole section in part three of Still Positive highlighting their work.

CfC’s mission is to support better access to social infrastructure through collaborative and resolute solutions that empower, advance and respect communities in need. Their vision is that every building is an opportunity to provide communities and individuals access to life-improving services, to see everyone included and enabled by resilient and sustainable social infrastructure, regardless of age, gender, location, or socioeconomic status. We support CfC’s commitment to healthcare infrastructure to improve healthcare access and equity.

Dandelion Africa

Julie and the 30/30 Project team traveled to Kenya to meet Wendo and the Dandelion Africa staff when partnering on a maternity ward construction project. We can’t say enough about the critical services they provide to their community.

Dandelion Africa reduces maternal and child mortality by providing quality and accessible healthcare to communities in hard to reach rural areas. They do this through a medical facility, backpack nurses who go door-to-door and a network of over 100 unpaid community health volunteers.

Dandelion Africa provides free quality healthcare to children under the age of five, they encourage women to access affordable reproductive health services, enabling them to have time for productive work and engage in economic and leadership opportunities.

Dandelion Africa works with communities and the government on practical and systematic change so that communities in rural Kenya have access to quality healthcare. They engage boys and men so they are agents of change and champion women’s health and livelihoods.

Positive Women’s Network

PWN-USA is a nationwide community of women and people of trans/gender nonconforming experience living with HIV. We are big fans of their advocacy on behalf of HIV+ women. Their  mission is to prepare and involve all women living with HIV, in all our diversity, including gender identity and sexual expression, in all levels of policy and decision-making. Every day, PWN-USA inspires, informs and mobilizes women living with HIV to advocate for changes that improve their lives and uphold their rights.
